Dear reader,
After three weeks as a Supply Chain Intern at Sperre Air Power, I’ve already gone through moments of uncertainty, growth, and a whole lot of learning. From day one, I was thrown into real tasks.
It’s been incredibly inspiring to witness how a Norwegian maritime tech company is competing globally, from tiny Ellingsøya. I quickly realized that Innovation and sustainability aren’t just buzzwords here.
During my time at Sperre, I’ve been involved in everything from supplier communication and planning to ERP system management. I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with various departments: sales, production, and engineering. It was a bit daunting at first to communicate with so many people across different teams, but the information flowed surprisingly smoothly. The general attitude is that everyone depends on each other, and it shows. There’s hardly any silo effect here, and that’s been fun to experience.

Big thanks to the amazing team in procurement and to everyone at Sperre Air Power for the support, guidance, and for making the transition from student to professional a lot less scary.
Companies that invest in students and internship programs contribute positively to society, especially now, as Norway faces a growing competence gap in key industries.
Sincerely,
Elias Alemayehu
